Michael has experience as a pastoral care practitioner and a manager of pastoral care teams in both acute hospital settings and aged care. During the past 4 years, he has been part of a Sponsorship Committee to help support the teaching of the Diploma of Ageing and Pastoral Care by Holy Family Services RTO in Melbourne.

While working at St Vincent’s Hospital, Michael and the Pastoral Care practitioners working in the Aged Mental health Service of St Vincent’s Hospital collaborated with the University of Melbourne Academic Unit for the Psychiatry of Old Age and the Healthcare Chaplaincy Council of Victoria on the development of an integrated model of pastoral care in aged mental health. A book called A Voice at the Table written by Rosemary Kelleher with Olga Yastrubetskaya was the outcome of this collaborative pastoral care project.
